It’s that time of year again! Workload starts to decrease, and the lead up to Christmas is upon us. This generally means more drinking, eating out and work parties.
With Christmas on the way we thought would share our essential tips to staying lean before Christmas:
Tip 1 Pick the place. If you’re eating out, meeting friends or having a business lunch it’s important to pick a place that serves high quality food. Organic, gluten-free, vegan or farm to fork restaurants can serve some quality food which the body better absorbs.
Tip 2 Lean and green. If you can’t pick the place. Choose lean and green on the menu. Protein, non-starchy vegetables, and high quality fat should dominate the plate.
Tip 3 Train that day. Prep the body for the evening ahead. Strength training will get the body functioning and burning calories more efficiently. If you’re unable to train, eat less during the day and save the extra calories for the evening.
Tip 4 Eat a good breakfast. Start your day with a nutrient dense breakfast, to prevent over eating later on. Ingredients might include, Smoked Salmon,mackerel, eggs, avocado, spinach, tomato, asparagus.
Tip 5 Increase water intake. Drinking water improves digestion by flushing out waste. Water aids in feelings of fullness, while hydrating bones, muscle and connective-tissue.
Tip 6 Avoid sugary drinks. Stick to 1-2 alcoholic drinks during the night, with the right mixer. Lighter coloured alcohol is generally lower in calories. Soda water, fresh lime or clear spirits can save you calories you might regret.
Tip 7 Enjoy yourself. Be mindful of what you’re eating and drinking and how you might feel if you over indulge. Don’t regret or feel guilty if you do, move forward and make positive choices next time.
